itself, not writing applicatons in GTK+.

However, your question really has nothing to do with GTK+
at all - it really is a question about C programming in
Unix in general. One place you could try is the Linux

A good book on the subject such as "Beginning Linux Programming"
or "Linux Application Development" may also be useful.
