Building GTK with Quartz backend

I'd like to try building GTK with its Quartz backend, to see if it's
currently solid enough to distribute with the Mac version of my app.
Can anyone with recent experience tell me if I'm better off
targetting GTK 2.24 or GTK 3.6? Thanks.
