I made some further checks, and now I can say,
 the resize grip gets ugly between 2.18 and 2.20 on windows system.

I have the same application, on windows and linux system, 
I noticed that the resize grip on the windows system with the new Gtk 2.20 Version 
looks different than on my linux system with 2.18.3.

Now I tested the application with the 2.18 release on the windows system, and the resize grip looks OK.

I did not spcified a theme.
