void rip( GtkWidget *widget, GdkEvent *event, gpointer
source_combo_box )
You're getting a segfault because GtkButton::clicked signal[1] has
only 2 arguments: a GtkButton and user provided data. Your function
should be defined as:

rip (GtkWidget *button,
gpointer source_combo_box)
