Yes, if you install a different display theme.  At least in
theory, I can't point to any such themes right away.

GTK+/GNOME design concepts state that the programmer should
refrain from controlling the appearance of the program more
than needed for proper display of information.  All other
aspects are a matter of taste and it should be quite obvious
that the user has better understanding of his own taste than
the programmer and can select an appealing theme if she is
not too lazy.

In other words: change it on your desktop if you wish, but,
please, do not force your preferences on users.
