compile glib 2.6.0 for win32 from linux box?

Happy new year!
I run into problems when I try to compile glib 2.6.0 with mingw32
(./configure wants pkgconfig to be updated although it is).
It is probably easier if I make the dll from a linux box then? How
would./configure know to build a dll?
