text and lines

Hi, i have to create a gui for a text application and i need to display some text and lines in a single area, 
also it has to be scrollable but i don't know what widgets can i use for doing this. Can you tell me please 
what do i need to do that? i'd like to not use nothing from gnome, pure gtk if possible. thanks and sorry for 
my bad english.
