Readonly GtkEntry with selectable text?

In GTK 1.2.10:

As subject says, it's possible to make the text of a read-only GtkEntry
selectable for copy&paste?

The only way I can think to do it is to make the entry RW and attach to
it a callback that reject every character, there is a simpler and
cleaner way?
