Nautilus like toolbars

Hello all,

Nautilus and epiphany have toolbars with a certain behaviour when you
resize the window or detach the toolbar from the window:

- If you resize the window such that not all elements fit onto the
toolbar, some elements disappear and become accessible via a small arrow
which appears on the tool bar.

- If you detach the toolbar and move them to the extends of the screen,
the toolbar changes from horizontal order to vertical order or vice versa.

The toolbars created with glade lack this functionality and I do not
find any hints in the GTK docs.
How do I create such toolbars?
