setting font size

Hello,
I am trying to set the font-size in terms of pixels (which isn't
directly possible). It seems I'm missing something here. Isn't this
the correct formula to caclulate the font-size in pango units: pixels
* PANGO_SCALE, which i can pass to pango_font_description_set_size ?
why on earth would this formula give the correct result: (pixel + 1) *
PANGO_SCALE?
