toolbars in gtk 2.2 and 2.4

Hello,

my program was/is developed using glade 2.6 and gtk 2.4.x ...
so I used the toolbar-features from gtk 2.4 ...
today I tested my code on a solaris-system with gtk 2.2 at our university ...
the only way to get it compile is to put away the whole toolbar-stuff ...

so, I don't want to go back to gtk 2.2 for the whole project. I only want some 
crappy-looking toolbars in a gtk2.2-version ...
is this possible? and how?

(and no, I can't install gtk 2.4 on this machines!)
