toolbar adding widgets with inner spacing

hi hi,

I have a GtkToolbar and add own widgets to it with
gtk_toolbar_append_element(...,GTK_TOOLBAR_CHILD_WIDGET,mywidget,...).
These widgets are labels and optionmenus. Now the probelm is that it look like
s**t, as the toolbar has no inner spacing.
Has anyone an idea of how to do this (apart using a GtkHBox for every element).
