Help required on GtkStyle for GtkTreeItem

Hi All,
  I am using GTK 1.2 for  application. I have a GtkTree in a window. I wanted to change the (font) color of 
each tree item DYNAMICALLY. That is, depending on some situation some of tree items will be having a 
color(say green) and remaining tree items will be having a different color. That is color should be 
independent/unique for each tree item. I tried using GtkStyle, But I am not able to do it. So can anybody 
help me to solve the problem.
