Using GTK+2.0 with pkgconfig

Hallo,

I need GTK 2 for my programm, so I installed it. I
wrote a Makefile and my program. But when I tried to
compile it the following message appeared:

make
cc -Wall-g -o dialogboxen.o -c dialogboxen.c
`pkg-config --cflags gtk+-2.0`
Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config
search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing
`gtk+-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtk+-2.0' found
dialogboxen.c:1:21: gtk/gtk.h: Datei oder Verzeichnis
nicht gefunden

Could anybody help me, please? How can I add
"gtk+-2.0.pc" and where? I found this file in
"file:/usr/lib/pkgconfig/".
