Distro packages plans?

Hi!
Didn't anyone hear if there would be any official
packages of GTK 2.2.x as it happened before (for
example RedHat's *.rpm) or one should
rather not wait and compile from tarballs?
There aren't any at gtk.org yet. Should
I look for them somewhere else?
