textview in scroll wrapping

Hello all,

I have a quite simple question (hope the solution is also simple :) )

When I set character-wrapping for the TextView, packing it  into ScrolledWindow,setting window's horisontal 
policy to  GTK_POLICY_NONE and vertical one to
GTK_POLICY_AUTOMATIC (yes it is chat-display :) ), no word wrapping
appears. Instead, TextView is being resized.

What I'd like to do is vertical scrolling with word wrapping.
