File size on glib

 Folks,

 Is there a portable/cross-platform function on glib to find out the size of a
file/dir ? 

 How can I also find out the space left on a disk from both windoze and Un*x ?

 Sorry if these questions do not belong here. I am just hoping that glib has
some portable way of doing it. The docs do not talk about it though :(.
