I have not been following this thread so I am not sure what the funny behavior
complained of is but I do use the function in question in gail, the
accessibility implementation for GTK widgets. This run, correctly I believe, on
Solaris 8 and above.
We have not tried running it on earlier versions of Solaris.

Is there anyone who tests this example under a Sparc-Solaris platform (Solaris
2.6)?
If there is no problem under linux, it might be a solaris specific problem.
