colors and menu

i've created a main menu with MenuItemFactory and now i try to change the colors, with gtk_widget_modify_bg i have changed the backgroud bar color and anything with other function.
when i click into the menu item the window is grey and i set the bar blue. i mean to set the color font with gtk_widget_modify_fg but i haven't any change.

when i change the style of the window, the child don't inherit the stile?
