gtk_text_view/buffer and accents

Hi all,

I recently received a bugreport from a user. The accents where shown wrong
in the text widget:
é ->> @æ

locales : fr

I'm wondering if this is a GTK error or something specific from my
application. How can I find out what the problem is? Is there anything my
application should do or should gtk handle everything?
