It clarifies. If this is not a GTkWidget, perhaps you could control it with a
GSocket ?

I had thought of this approach, but this limits an end-developer from using a
custom widget (one not compiled into my project), and that is not an
acceptable side-effect. The plugins will be loaded into my app using a small
"api" that I have already worked out, and the dlopen, dlsym, etc. functions
provided by glibc. Does this clarify my intentions any better?
