Newbie seeking info on ZVT or VTE terminal widgets for gnome2 programming

Hi there.. I'm new to programing with gtk, and am planning to create a
fairly simple application for gnome2. I am sure that if this is the
wrong place to ask questions about it that someone will point me else
where.

I've been programming with c++ and java for about a year now, so am
fairly new to programming in general too.

I have used glade-2 to create the approximate GUI that I would like to
use. However as glade has no widget for a terminal window, I'll need to
do that manually. I have ascertained that I need to use either zvt or
vte, but that's about as far as I have gotten so far. Is there any
tutorial specific about using such a widget for gnome2 that I could
consult?

An additional question I have is about creating a gnome2 panel applet
for my application, and would like to see a tutorial on that (though I
won't work on that straight away).

would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.
