GTK RPMS

Hi there I'm interested on developing with GTK. So, I download the RPM for
GTK in order to have them install on Suse 8.0. I kind'a had success, but
one's I'm compiling (or trying) a program, it appears this message:
/usr/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so:undefined reference to `FT_Get_First_Char`. I'll
appreciate it if some one has a guideline in order to have GTK well
configure.
