right aligning text in gnome print master preview

hi,

i'm using gnome print master for creating 
a print preview in my application

i just want some of my print fields to be right
aligned, 
 for eg:  in printing  a list
of items and their rates. where i want the rates 
to be right justified.
now i use a raw idea of calculating the string width
by using the font's pixel size and all.
but it doesn't work well. 

can any one please help me givin some idea..
