max size of object packed into Scrolled Window

        I've created Gtk::List object containing about 3000 elements
(Gtk::Label). When I packed it into Scrollend Window it behaved as if
the list widget was not big enough to be scrolled. The slider did;nt even
show up(when the GTK_AUTMATIC policy was set). When I halved the numer of
elements of the list everything was fine. Is the any simple way to get
around this problem?

(I use gtkmm if it changes anything).
