XLFD from GdkFont?

Is there an easy way to obtain the XLFD string from a GdkFont? I know we
can get to the XFontStruct from the GdkFont, but do any X experts know how
to get the canonical XLFD from the XFontStruct itself?
I'm working on the stable branch, so pango can't help me I'm afraid.
