GDK window_clear & draw_pixmap

hi,

i'm the main developer of QIV (a GDK/ImLib based image
viewer -> klografx.net/qiv) and have a small question:

currently QIV is showing images using:

- gdk_window_clear(..)
- gdk_draw_pixmap(..)
- gdk_flush()

this works fine but the image flickering on move or zoom.. 
is there a better way to clean the window and redraw the image 
without the ugly flicker effect ???????
