Temp files

Sorry for being a bit off topic here.

I just got done removing all the calls to tmpnam() in my program (I guess one 
should be carefull with some of the stuff in Stevens APUE, it's a bit dated) 
and I was wondering what everyone out there uses to generate temp files. It 
seems if you do it without too much thought it's easy to create a security 
risk.
