i want to make a ruler display time, particularly in a
minutes:seconds:fraction format.
i looked in the archives and found little on the subject, mainly people
asking how to do it. i didn't see any good answers.
i'll probably just copy the gtkhruler source, or override the
"draw_ticks" event. i would, however, like to see something like a
"make_reading" event or some sort of callback. the callback would return
a string based on the numerical position on the ruler. if there's no
handler, the plain number is rendered instead.
i like this idea, because it would make gtk that much easier to use and
more useful. are there any better solutions? the code to gtk*ruler is
pretty short, so it's not a big deal. it is annoying to have to make
custom widgets for every little thing though.
if my idea sounds good, i wouldn't mind implementing it in the 1.3.x
series. it'd be rather simple. are there plans to work on the ruler
widgets in the development version? where could i find this out? this
seemed like the best list to ask on because this question is also open
to application solutions.
thanks!
