Bug in GTK+ RGB buffers?

I noticed that in the gdk_draw_rgb_image() and similar function,
the x and y inputs only seem to affect the coordinates for
the placement of the image data on the GdkDrawable, and the x and y
coordinates within the image data.

This causes problems if I wanted to put image data to the
GdkDrawable at a specified rectangle where the size of the
image data matches the size of the GdkDrawable. As if the
image data was the back buffer of the GdkDrawable.

This makes it incredibly inefficient as I'd have to allocate
a new tempory image buffer to put to the GdkDrawable each
time I call gdk_draw_rgb_image() and similar functions. :(
