GTK functions for open(), read(), write()

Hi,
I was wondering if GTK provides wrappers for the standard C functions
open(), read(), and write(). I've found the g_io_*() functions but it
seems that I still need to get a file descriptor using open() or
fopen().  Not that this is to big of a deal I just like to use wrappers
when they are available for the obvious reasons of portability.
