In the lastest Antergos xfce and Manjaro lxde i could not enable gthumb extensions for "Comments and Tags," or ""Exif, iptc, xmp support." I got the error "libexiv2.so.14 no such file." I had no idea why i was missing this file or what to do about it.
Turns out most distros include this library with gthumb by default, whereas the above two, at least, do not. Installing gthumb from the gui pacmac or octopi didn't tell me this information. This time i installed gthumb by command line using pacman directly. It says right there "optional dependencies libexiv2" among others. As soon as i installed this option the gthumb extensions i needed were turned on and all is "normal." Bottom line seems to be if your gthumb isn't fully functional you may not have the necessary libraries, and the package manager may not say this. I've been told that with Arch-based systems at least, updating and installing by command line is best and it sure worked for me in this case. peace -bill From: billwx live com To: gthumb-list gnome org Date: Sun, 3 Apr 2016 20:17:45 +0000 Subject: Re: [gthumb-list] Exif problems with new version Hi Paolo and everyone, Thank you for your help with my issue. Using arch-based Antergos, xfce, and the latest gthumb i am unable to completely view or edit exif information. Several switches including the exif are turned off by default. When i attempt to turn any of these on the entire system locks up requiring a hard reboot. The error message says 'could not open module libexiv2.so.14 no such file. Is there a work around? Interestingly i get the same result with manjaro lxde, yet their xfce runs it fine. peace, -bill _______________________________________________ gthumb-list mailing list gthumb-list gnome org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gthumb-list |
