[gthumb-list] Any optimization needed?

Hello.

I'm currently doing an optimization course at university. I have to speed up an open source application (or make it use less memory). So, I picked up gthumb, because I always enjoyed using it very much.

I have code from git repository compiled and running, but I'm not sure where to start. 

I wonder if you can give me any advice?
What part of gthumb do you think really requires optimization?
Or maybe it's so fast and efficient already, that I should rather look for some other project?
