Well, the fact is that everything that comes from the tetrinet server (which is the chat, the nicknames, etc) is encoded in whatever encoding scheme the server likes to apply. Right now we can't auto-detect what encoding is the server using, so we can't translate it to UTF-8. GTetrinet assumes that the server is using the ISO-8859-1 encoding (it's the most widely used), so it encodes everything it sends through the wire to standard ISO-8859-1, and it decodes everything it receives from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8. This means that if the server is already sending everything in UTF-8, it gets double-encoded and you see the UTF-8 codes in your screen. > It will be really great...
