Why the selection of regions after deletion?

Good morning,

I tell you right away that I am afraid of the answer to my question.

More verbose: When I select a number of lines (e.g. 3) and delete them,
the selection does not change, but comprises content which has been
moved where the deleted cells have been. This works alike with other
ranges.

For the time, I ignore the use of this selection and (would) recommend,
that it is not maintained after a successful deletion of cells.

Why am I afraid? Because I asked the very same question in the SoftMaker
Office forum and got the Excel-truncheon. But in that case, would
someone be able to explain the use of this selection in Excel?

“Whatever you do, try to have a reason to do it” (Forrest Gump/Winston

Beats me.
