I often create charts and need to heavily customize

and the property window closes, it is a significant
annoyance to have to re-open the window and navigate
a complex tree of properties to continue with my
customization.

My simple request is for a way I can tweak something
in gnumeric to stop this behavior? A long term
solution would be of course to add a "Close" button.

This is enhancement request

Wow. I just looked at the above enhancement request.
It has been ignored for 6 years. Is there any reason
I should think my input likely to get this fixed ?

I don't mind rebuilding gnumeric from source. I don't
know the Python language and don't have time to learn
it, but I'm sure I could apply a patch.

Gnumeric is written in C, not python.

I assumed the graphical code was coded in an interpreted
language rather than C. I know C quite well. If you
point me to the right file, I will give a shot at a
submitting a patch.

I grep'd thru the src directory but didn't get any
meaningful hits on the keywords I tried. I think it
should be easy to make the changes without understanding
the overall structure of gnumeric.

BTW, I like gnumeric a lot better than the star office
derivatives and only want to see it improved.
