First timer with a beginner's question - what is the recommended / required software and procedure for 
compiling under Windows? If nobody has done it (or done it with great difficulty) what is considered the 
easiest standard setup?


The win32 build is produced by cross compilation from Linux
to win32 using the mingw compiler.  I am not aware of any
recent, native compilation attempts.
