wrongly start in edit mode

When gnumeric opens an existing xls file. It always look like an enter
key has been pressed so that the original content of active is erase.
If esc is not pressed, the content is lost. I attached a small excel
file that has "abc" in cell A1. Does this only happen to my gnumeric
in ubuntu?
