Cell References in Formulas not Highlighted

I am using Gnumeric 1.8.2 in Ubuntu Hardy.
I would want to ask if someone else is experiencing the same problem as I have, that is cell references in formulas are not highlighted. Let's say I have A1, B1, and B3. I wrote the formula in B3 "=A1+B1". When I choose cell B3, and place my cursor on A1 then the cell A1 must be highlighted, but it isn't. Someone has filed a bug report over lauchpad, and I validated it but as of now there is no activity. I've always used this feature for auditing formulas. There are times when I can see the highlighted cell but that only happens 5% of the time. Please advise.
