Scripting Gnumeric from Python

Hi,

I'm trying to find examples or instructions on how to manipulate
Gnumeric from Python.  For example, I want to write a Python program
that uses Gnumeric to open up a spreadsheet, update some values, print
to PDF, etc.

I found an older, related message on the archives, but not much detail
about what I am trying to do:

If anyone has successfully done this and can provide an example I
