xml-sax read vs write?

I have introduced some additional workbook state with a new feature,
that I plan to submit once it works.  After some modifications to
xml-sax-write, they show up spic and span in the .gnumeric workbook
file.  Corresponding modifications to xml-sax-read have no effect for
me, however.  Moreover, as far as I can tell (using gdb), the
xml-sax-read functions are never called when my workbook file is read
and parsed.

Could someone please give me a hint regarding where I find the right
input code to modify?
