sorry it did work, using ';' [=cell("sheetname";B2)]
Is that in gnumeric or in oocalc? OO uses ; as a parameter separator,
but AFAIK, gnumeric doesn't. For me in 1.6.1, =cell("sheetname",B2)
works.
