gnumeric 1.6.0 crashes when python console is selected

Hello,
I have just installed Gnumeric 1.6.0 on by AMD64-x2 system (Gentoo
Linux). When I select the python console from the Tool menu, gnumeric
crashes. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some configuration
file I need to tweak? Thanks.
