plotxy - range

How do a plot a range of values in an xy graph?

I have an xy graph. I right click and go to properties. Under PlotXY1, I 
select the series. Then I click in then (X) text box and clear it.  I then 
click on the first cell of the range and then the last cell of the range. 
The text box looks this:
'mySheet'!$A$1:$A$99
I click Apply
but only the data from the first cell appears.

What am I doing wrong?
