Text color in charts?

Is there any way to modify the text color in Gnumeric charts?
Generally, when I'm working with lots of data, it's easier on my eyes
to use a dark background (black). Unfortunately when I set this up in
my Gnumeric chart the text disappears and I don't see any way to
change the text to white, for example.

I'm probably missing something obvious, but a search through the
manual and a search of the archives of this mailing list didn't turn
anything up either.
