Problem importing files in the newest versions

Hi,
Currently I am using Gnumeric 1.2.0. I have tried the version 1.2.1, 1.22 and 
1.2.4, but I went back to 1.2.0 because all the other versions have a very 
annoying bug.
When you open a file, gnumeric has this nice option of automatically detecting 
the type of the file. Unfortunately, it works only on version 1.2.0. In the 
other version it gave me the error of unsupported format. But, when I chose, 
from the list, the type of format the file was, it opened without any 
problem.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
