Re: Re: chinese input method collided with gnumeric

Dear Jody,

    In Chinese version MS Excel,almost all accelerator can be re-assigned to the key you preferred,they are editable.There have no collision between application and Chinese input method after we finished MS Excel installation without any modification of accelerator.

<2> I used fcitx Chinese input method,version 1.8.5 ( www.fcitx.org),I used emerge tool of Gentoo to install this package,this tool will download source code from internet,auto config and compile it,  invoke 'make install' to install binary files to system in the end.

I will set enviroment variable like this after install:

XMODIFIERS="@im=fcitx"
XIM=fcitx
XIM_PROGRAM=fcitx

then let fcitx started automatic when gnome started.(add a session to gnome)

~/.gnome2/session-manua

0,RestartStyleHint=3
0,Priority=50
0,RestartCommand=/usr/bin/fcitx

<3> I will get a float bar of fcitx after I start gnome,if I want to input chinese character,I just press ctrl+space.

<4> I ever tried to enable input method through input method context menu of edit line,it failed.

      When I double clicked the cell of sheet,all menu of gnumeric will be disable,a edit cursor of edit line begin to blink.If I press ctrl+space,one column will be selected,input method will still be disable,that's I told you before.If I right click on edit line,a context will be popup,there have a menuitem named input  method,I choose this menuitem,a list of input method will popup,like that:

    Default
    Amharic(EZ+)
    Cyrillic(Transliterated)
    ......
    Vietnamese(VIQR)
    X Input Method

    I choose last one --- X Input Method,want to enable my input method here,but nothing happen.

Its good to know that it is possible.

Do you have access to a chinese version of MS Excel ? I'd be
interested to know what they do. Gnumeric did not choose that
accelerator itself. There were bug reports from MS Excel users
requesting it for compatibility.

I would have hoped that would work.
Could you file a really detailed bug explaining

1) which input method you have installed and how to install it.
2) The the exact set of key and mouse events you tried that did not
work. Please be very very specific, this is probably something
subtle.

Thanks
