RE: cells and accent

===== Original Message From Anselme <anselme netcourrier com> =====

For your version of Gnumeric, you have to run it in a locale which
supports ISO-8859-1. If you run it in the C locale, you get the problems
you describe.

How can I check that ?

Start Gnumeric from a shell, setting LC_ALL explicitly. In bash:
 To run Gnumeric in en_US locale: type "LC_ALL=en_US gnumeric &" at the
prompt.
 To run Gnumeric in C locale: type "LC_ALL=C gnumeric &" at the prompt.

What locales are available on your system may vary. Verify that you actually
have the locale you are going to try by running another program in that
locale.
Using a non-english locale will make this obvious.
