It seems my response went astray. I'll try again.
You are probably using packages for gnome-libs which are installed
in --prefix=/usr and build libole2 from source which installs by
default in --prefix=/usr/local. Hence the gnome-config script does
not find it.
setenv GNOME_PATH /usr/local
rm gnumeric/config.cache
then rerun configure in gnumeric and things will work
