It works for me on a Debian unstable box.  Hopefully this will make
it easier to transition over to gnumeric under gnome2.  Please

I've just added all that is needed to vicious-build-scripts to compile
gnumeric, including gal. So, people that use those scripts can just:

modmake.sh gal && modmake.sh gnumeric

it works for me also on Debian unstable.
